In March 2003 I purchased a LOMO LC-A at a local art book shop. True to the LOMO philosophy I took it everywhere and shot almost everything. Well not everything. But a lot of things. And here is my Lomographic Portfolio.

What is a LOMO? Its basically... aww heck go read it for yourself at www.lomo.com.

I suppose I am a LOMO Renegade because I DO NOT shoot from the hip and I like my pictures to preferably be in focus. But I like the retro look the LOMO camera produces (both within and without).

The technique? MY technique? A steady hand, a decent mental distance gauge and looking... just looking.

What Me Manual?

Why a manual camera? I own an autofocus SLR, a few digital cameras and this is my first fully manual camera. Well my father had a Kodak Instamatic but I was only a child then.

I don't know - I just decided to try manual. And no regrets. Sometimes the focus is off but the beauty of the LOMO is the exposure is always spot on and as long as the distances are accurately estimated, its the FASTEST camera I have. Fastest not in terms of shutter speeds but the zero lag between shutter press and picture snap. If you own a digital you know what I mean - ESPECIALLY in low lighting conditions.

I guess its this speed and lack of irritating focussing light that has allowed me to take some of the more candid shots in this webpage. Anyway enjoy...
